crystal clean

I am NOT a morning person. So when I found out I could either be driven to the Rose Bowl early in the morning OR sleep in late and clean my room, I chose to do the latter. ^_^

It's amazing how much junk can be stored in a room 120 in. x 110 in. The big things inside my room includes a bunkbed (borrowed, will be returned before my family moves again next month), the bookcase (Yay! The only piece of furniture I bought! ^_^), a small dresser (used to be my brother's when he was little), file cabinent (my mother's), a desk (given to me), and portable wooden closet (my grandmother's). Hmph. My family moves too much, in my opinion.

I think one of the most difficult things for me to throw out, but what needs it the most, is all the papers I've collected: schoolwork, programs to musicals and plays I've attended, and a bunch of other paper junk I've collected. I think I'm going to try sorting them again today and throwing away as much as I can (hey! I've attached memories to some of these things!).

Then there's the clothes. Almost all my clothes have been given to my by other people. (The problem is that I have too many friends and female cousins that outgrow clothes that like handing them down to me.) Therefore, I have enough clothes to wear for a couple months without washing, if I desired. o.0) It's time to get rid of clothes! Therefore, I have decided to throw away or donate all the clothes , (excluding fancy dresses...they're expensive!) that I haven't worn for a couple months, to thrift stores. ^_^

The easy part is vacuuming and cleaning the windows and organizing what's being kept. Now, if I could only get myself to give a little more...hm...I wonder if the church has a Dorcus society.

Arizona

This weekend I spent time basking in AZ's 100+ degree weather. Mmm.

Ren. Faire. Memories

Double-sided cloaks tempting my wallet - one would fit my brother, one would fit me, but not ready to pay the price.

Men throwing tomatoes and missing the man inside every single time.

Jousting tournament "to the death" until the actors get up and bow. One horse decided to put on its own show, after the rider accidentally/on purpose fell off, by wildly bucking and prancing about the arena.

The story told by two "mariners":
"One day on the high seas twins were sent up to the crow's nest to ring the bell to warn the sailors of the coming storm. In the fury of the wind and sea, the hammer broke off and one twin used the other's head to ring the bell. The sailors came and saved the ship, but, alas, the twins had fallen to their death. Unfortunately, no one could seem to remember their names. The captain walked across the ship, with big thumping steps, right up to one twin and brought his voice really low and said: "this face rings a bell." Then he walked over to the other twin and said: "this one's a dead ringer." Hehehe.

Shakespeare stories each told in four minutes, using tunes from songs like Gilligan's Island, The Brady Bunch, and Evita to sing part of each tale. Hamlet told in "Dick and Jane" style. ("Run Hamlet, Run") Hee. REALLY good, especially for only having three actors. ^_^ (Kudos to including a 'Star Wars' fight scene, one 'Star Trek' Checkov lookalike wig (lol)...etc.)

The Queen of the Faire.

My brother getting mock strangled by a ninja. ^_^

Juggling.

Prints of maps and a thesis of why children learning music and dancing in school was evil (lol) in a print shop, and advertisements for Cambridge.

Tiny children dressed in cute costumes.

Puritans being mortified by Ren. Faire goers putting colorful ribbons on them. =P

HUZZAH! HUZZAH! HUZZAH! ^_~

The "Merry Wives of Windsor".

Bath-house fun. ^_~

"Oh no! I've been sheeped!" heehehe
(Puppets are sooo much fun! My favorite actually was the dormouse.)

Nesting instinct

It turns out the scrubjay was attempting to be a martyr for a cause. Nearby my family's townhouse (ah, yes, we didn't move. did I mention that?) was its nest. I stumbled upon the family's tree today quite by accident, while walking "my" dog Sisi. It was trying to lure potential predators away from its nest.

I was thinking that people have a nesting instinct as well.
First we're babies in the nest crying for mom or dad.
Then we're kids playing around, testing our wings.
Then we're young adults flying about.

[Then (I've heard) the stage comes as a parent with a new nest.
Then those children leave the nest.
And empty-nest syndrome starts!
See what I have to look forward to? :oP]

Anyway, it sure is fun listening to chattering.
Having friends and family around is great.
I know why the free bird sings. :oP
